WHY I HIKE

• Nature
• Adventure
• Danger
• Murder- ing

my calves
as I cave in climbing up
mountain summits, I’m aroused
by Her curves. I drink from coconuts
that bust, my thighs’
ache as my pain dies.

I’ve licked sap off a tree,
I’ve tasted nuts fallen to ground.
I’ve sucked flowers pollinated by bees.
I’ve salivated over Mother’s sound.

These treks brought peace
with silences that ceased
by critters’ symphonies
and florae’s prosperity.

Filling my soul with trust quick,
filling my soles with dust I kick.
We emerged from stardust
to exist with night and day

walking on this natural dirt path
artificially carved by ancestors before us,
guided by Nature
to show us the way.
