Amber Marie

THRESHOLDS

the doorway to hell is closed.
we asked the indifferent master
what he thinks of this mundane madness
in broad daylight. he says,
push harder. break though.

you wonder why no one hears you,
knocking softly on those doors of perception,
whispering crystal visions,
you gotta break through.

blast your music louder, skip class
record all images, symbols, music, and poems
bangin around inside your head.
blindly follow this new religion, instead.

crossing over that dead threshold,
nothing holding you back,
the universe favors
bold women, god
favors the bold woman,

the one who crosses over
and transcends
sheds her past lives
and wakes from the dead.

take my side, trust me, it’s the one
you want to be on. break through and crystallize.
your heavenly oasis is on the other side.

the universe is a song, a loud one,
no right or wrong,
it’s an all girl band, and you’re on vocals.
do you write the lyrics & shred guitar, too?

watch out, god’s been dead
but the ambivalent bored master
is out for blood
and recruits the ones who flaunt misbehavior
bad girl demeanor, spliff smokers and
the horniest of the bunch.

the universe puts the meek and compliant to death
in the forms of schools, jobs, children, & pensions.
this is serious. this is life threatening. you
have the power to resuscitate those poor blind fish
swimming into the glass over & over & over
again.
